The Gents Barbershop

A new barbershop stepping into an unfamiliar city, right before a global pandemic, faced a unique challenge. With no existing customer base, The Gents needed more than a logo—they needed an identity that could instantly earn trust and signal quality. Not only did they lack a recognizable brand identity and an established customer base - they needed a clear communication to stand out from competitors. Opening in 2020 was already a challenge, but going up against long-established competitors made it even harder.

The Gents wanted to stand out as classic yet contemporary: offering an old-school service experience with a bold modern edge. They needed a brand that felt both timeless and modern, a full visual identity and customer-facing concept, and the tools to communicate consistently across touchpoints.

We built a brand that spoke directly to modern gentlemen while paying homage to tradition. From tone of voice to visual identity, every detail was designed to make The Gents feel both established and fresh. Our work included a hand-drawn logo with timeless appeal, a bold black-and-white palette with warm green accents, a brand-ready website designed for trust and conversion, in-store and print applications for a cohesive experience, and communication guidelines to keep the brand consistent across channels.

In their words:

“Starting a barbershop from scratch in a new city — right before a pandemic — wasn’t easy. But with a strong brand behind us, we had something solid to stand on. That made all the difference.”
